Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located around Kapalanggou in the upper Yarkant River, Xinjiang. It was named by H.A. Velanyevsky [sp.?] in 1946 (original data unavailable).


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Dominated by light-gray dolomitic limestone, gray-red thick-bedded massive limestone, gray-black chert limestone, yellow-gray brecciated limestone, gray organic limestone, and gray and purple shales, locally intercalated with thin-bedded intermediate-basic volcanic rock. Thickness over 777 m.

Conformable contact with the overlying Qiatier Gr

Regional extent

Distributed east of the Yarkant River in the Karakorum Mts., in a NW-trending band.
